The study of God's Word is the only way whereby a Christian can have his life grow like the life of the Lord Jesus.

The Bible is a supernatural Book. No other book was ever given by God. No other book contains any of Gods unveiling and God never breathed upon any other men than those who wrote the Bible, to keep them from error in their work.

When God took the veil from things that man could not know by himself, He began to tell man about it. Adam knew some things about God, about salvation, about eternal life, long before there was a Bible. Abel knew about the blood sacrifice and Enoch knew about the second coming of Christ (Jude 14). Yet none of these things had been written down in the Bible as yet.

God knows everything, and God can do anything. If He had not wanted us to know something He could have kept it from us; all that He wants us to know He tells us. Men did not know anything about God except that which He chose to tell them. He has told us about Himself in two ways, in the world round about us and in the Bible.

We know that the Lord Jesus may come at any moment, to take us to be with Himself. Does this make any difference in the way we live? We are not afraid of His coming, for we know that He can see us just as truly today, while He is in Heaven, as He will when He comes and we can see Him. But the moment of His coming is going to be the most wonderful moment that there has ever been. But if, when He comes, we are doing something that would not please Him, or saying something unkind or untrue, or if we are in some place that He would not like, it will spoil that beautiful moment for us. It is not that He would not take us to be with Him if we were doing something that would displease Him, for He takes us because we are saved, not because we are being good. But think what a sad thing it would be if we had to meet Him with our head hanging down, ashamed to see His face! And since He may come any moment, we should always be waiting for Him.
